FAQs

Why do Wildhut outdoor saunas represent a premium investment?

Every Wildhut outdoor sauna is architecturally designed, structurally engineered and built from the finest of specialist materials. We use only Grade A, knot free thermally treated timber, expert CLT construction technology and marine grade 316 stainless steel throughout. Our saunas are a world apart from the mass-produced alternatives on the market.  Designed with intention, built to endure and engineered to perform beautifully for decades. A Wildhut outdoor sauna is not simply a purchase. It is a quality investment piece, designed to enrich your life, improve your health and enhance home for generations to come.

How safe are Wildhut outdoor saunas ?

Every Wildhut outdoor sauna is constructed to the highest health and safety standards. Our heaters carry CE approval and EN15821 certification, and all safety clearances have been met in full accordance with manufacturer guidelines. Every sauna is structurally approved by our engineer to withstand even the most demanding of British and European climatic conditions. All our wood fired models are fully ventilated in accordance with HETAS regulations. Your safety and peace of mind are at the heart of everything we build.

What models are available and can I have a bespoke sauna?

We offer a signature collection of 4 exceptional outdoor sauna models: the OHK (2-3 person), the TULI (4 person), the VESI (6 person) and the MAA (8 person). Each available in a range of configurations to suit your requirements, outdoor space and heater preferences. For those with a particularly distinct vision, we are always delighted to explore bespoke design possibilities. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our expert team to discuss your project.

What timber is used in a Wildhut outdoor sauna?

We use only the finest specialist sauna timber throughout. The exterior cladding is PEFC certified thermally treated Radiata Pine, chosen for its exceptional durability, dimensional stability and its beautiful natural weathering to a sophisticated silver grey patina over time. Internally, we offer a choice of Western Red Cedar or Alder, both Grade A timbers which are thermally stable and of the finest quality. Our experts consider Cedar an exceptional choice for its warm pinky brown tones, natural antibacterial properties and well documented anti stress aromatic qualities. Alder offers a more modern aesthetic, less colour variation and a beautiful alternative of equal distinction.

What guarantee do Wildhut outdoor saunas carry?

Our heaters are guaranteed by the manufacturer for 5 years. Our steel base beams are treated to resist corrosion for 25 years, and our metal roof carries a protective coating guaranteed for 20 years. With regular care and maintenance, the timber will endure for decades without degrading. We are deeply committed to the long-term performance of every Wildhut outdoor sauna and take great pride in our aftercare programme, supporting every client long after installation is complete.

How much does it cost to run a Wildhut outdoor sauna?

Running costs are modest and will vary depending on your model and heat source.

For an electric sauna, as a guide, a 10.5kW heater will use approximately 10.5kWh of electricity per hour. Based on current average unit costs of approximately 27p per kWh, this equates to around £2.84 per hour, or approximately £8.50 for a 3 hour session.

For a wood fired sauna, a rough guide is approximately £2 per hour in logs, though this will vary depending on your supplier and the type of wood used.

Please note that all figures above are approximate and intended as a general guide only. Electricity unit rates vary by region, supplier and tariff and are reviewed quarterly by Ofgem. For the most current unit rates applicable to your area, we recommend visiting ofgem.gov.uk.

Wood fired or electric heater?

Both deliver an authentic and deeply restorative sauna experience. The right choice will depend on the type of sauna experience you are seeking, the availability of wood or electricity at your site, and your personal preferences.

A wood fired heater offers the most immersive and authentic sauna experience, from the ritual of building the fire to the enveloping steam of the stones. It is the ideal choice for off grid locations and those who wish to connect more deeply with the ancient tradition of the sauna. Wood fired heaters take a little longer to reach temperature, just over an hour from cold, and require a wood store and regular log supply.

An electric heater is brilliantly convenient, heating your sauna in 30 to 50 minutes and offering the option of remote control via a simple mobile app. Fitted with traditional sauna stones for an authentic and enveloping steam experience, electric heaters are also an excellent choice for those in urban environments where local smoke regulations need to be considered. No wood store is required, and installation simply needs a qualified electrician to connect the heater.

What groundworks are required?

Every Wildhut outdoor sauna must be installed on a level, pre-prepared concrete base. We provide detailed groundwork plans for your builder, plumber and electrician, specifying the exact depth and dimensions of the concrete slab and the locations for any water or electrical connections required in advance of your sauna arriving. Our expert team will guide you through every requirement clearly and in good time.

Can I take my Wildhut sauna with me if I move?

It is also worth noting that a Wildhut outdoor sauna is a genuine property asset, widely considered to enhance the value and appeal of a home.
